If you've been waiting with baited breath for the return of Zellers and its classic Zellers Family Restaurants, the party starts this week!
The first Zellers locations will open within Hudson's Bay stores in Ontario on Thursday, March 23. From March 23 to 26, some lucky locations will have an extra dose of nostalgia with Zellers Diner on Wheels food trucks to accompany their opening day.
In the GTA, food trucks will roll through on the following dates, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- March 23 at Scarborough Town Centre (The Zellers experience is on L3 of Hudson's Bay. Access via the interior mall entrance.)
- March 25 at Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga (Zellers is on L2 of Hudson's Bay. Access via the upper mall entrance.)
- March 26 at Burlington Mall (Zellers is located on L2 of Hudson's Bay. Access via entrance #4 inside the mall.)
A nation-wide poll decided which menu items would make a return, with five favourites coming out on top: the Big Z Burger, Hot Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Cheese, Chicken Fingers, and Fries with Gravy.
There are currently no plans for the physical Zellers Family Restaurants to return, as Zellers will be only be located in spaces within 25 Hudson's Bay stores to start. So, those with a hankering for these classic food items will have to keep up with the Zellers food trucks.
Those planning to check out a food truck may want to arrive early, as Zellers is expecting lineups ahead of doors opening. According to a recent release, DJs will start playing music at 8 a.m., and stores will open at 10 a.m., with the food trucks to follow at 11:30 a.m.
