L.A-based street food sensation turned fast-casual brand, Dave's Hot Chicken, will be setting up shop in Parkdale early next year.

Classically-trained chef Dave Kopushyan and three friends opened the first Dave's Hot Chicken in early 2017 as a parking lot pop-up that exploded in popularity with lines quickly wrapping around the block. Dave, a self proclaimed "spice freak", wanted to share his love for Nashville hot chicken and its bold dynamic flavours with local Angelenos. Fast-forward three years, Dave's Hot Chicken now has multiple locations across Southern California and 100 more committed units expected in the foreseeable future.

The wildly popular hot chicken chain announced their Canadian expansion back in May with 30 locations set to open in Ontario and British Columbia. The Canadian franchise will be headed by founder of the NBA Toronto Raptors, John Bitove and Obelysk Foods Ltd.

Dave's Hot Chicken's first Canadian location will be opening in Toronto's booming food hub, Parkdale at the corner of Queen Street West and Sorauren Avenue. The hot chicken chain will be taking over the former neighbourhood staple, Pete's Corner Grill.

Dave's Hot Chicken specializes in Nashville style hot chicken tenders and sliders, with spice levels ranging from “No Spice” to  “Reaper". They also serve house-made kale slaw, creamy mac and cheese, crispy fries and cheese fries.

Dave's Hot Chicken is set to open in Parkdale early 2021 -- stay tuned.
