Union restaurant's latest pop-up will feature a variety of Japanese-inspired small plates

If your Sunday dinner plans are still up in the air, Union's latest pop-up might make it easier for you to make a decision. Chef Naoto Kojima will be hosting a pop-up at the restaurant from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. featuring a "small dishes" menu designed by him.

Union is an acclaimed neighbourhood restaurant with eclectic French cuisine inspired by classic Parisian bistros and the French vigour for great food. For five hours on Sunday, it will move quite far east from its usual coordinates and serve up a delectable offering of Japanese food.

  • Miso Soup
  • Organic Salmon Crudo: blue cheese cream, orange chili oil, cucumber and cilantro
  • Avocado Mush: crispy rice, nori sauce, pickles and mayo
  • Sushi Beef Steak: New York strip, yukke sauce and horseradish
  • Fried Chicken Karaage: tartar sauce, small salad with a lemon dressing
  • Smoked Ribs and Potato Stew: sauce vert, carrots and sprouts
  • Matcha Brûlée

A little over a year ago, Kojima did a slew of Japanese pop-ups at Churchill Bar. He has since returned to the city of Toronto and is ready to once again serve the patrons a taste of Japan through his small-plate menu.

"Colours," the Japanese pop-up by chef Naoto Kojima will be up and running between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday. It will be hosted at Union located at 72 Ossington Ave. To make reservations, please call the restaurant directly at 416-850-0093.
