Uber is now delivering groceries

Now, more than ever, there is a growing demand for delivery services across the world. Uber is meeting that demand and has announced that the company will be launching grocery deliveries in partnership with Cornershop, a grocery delivery startup the tech-giant purchased in 2019.

As of July 7, users in Toronto, Montreal and Latin America can have their groceries delivered through the Uber and Uber Eats apps. The delivery option will also be expanded into the United States later this month.

"[Users will] be able to place orders from local merchants and receive them in as little as one to two hours," says Daniel Danker, who runs Uber's product team.

In Toronto and Montreal, the delivery service features thousands of products from several merchants including Metro, Rexall, Walmart, Longos, Costco and PetValu. Users will also be able to track their grocery orders from start to finish.

“Uber started on the premise that people should be able to more easily get to the places they need to go," says Raj Beri, the Global Head of Grocery.

The company hopes that by adding grocery delivery to their already booming food delivery and rideshare services, it will make Uber a one-stop shop for all their consumers needs.
