Two sisters are doing weekly drops of their homemade scones

Nicole and Blaire Richie have always found solace in the kitchen––it's a place where they connect, bounce ideas off each other and do some of their best work.

Last year, when Mother's Day rolled around, one of the sisters decided to show their love for their mom by baking her caramel apple scones, which turned out to be a hit. From there, they began baking for friends and family, and when Nicole lost her job due to COVID-19, the sisters realized there was an opportunity here to work on their own project.

After spending years in the service industry, getting well-versed with the ins and outs of running a small business and learning how to finesse flavour profiles, they figured it was time to put their energy into something of their own, and Sticks and Scones was born.

Through their Instagram account, they do weekly flavour drops that are inspired by their food faves, ideas from their growing loyal following and what's in season. Regardless of what's inside them, all of the scones are created to perfection.

Acknowledging that scones tend to be a neglected pastry, they wanted to highlight what makes scones great––their flaky, fluffy and light nature, the way they softly crumble and their subtle sweetness. Once they nailed the basic scone, they began having fun with their flavours. They've done everything from blueberry, to chocolate pecan, to their OG salted caramel apple, to a savoury caramelized onion and gruyere.

Although scones for pick-up and delivery are what they're up to now, the sisters have bigger plans for the future. They're thinking of organizing pop-ups, supplying local cafes––particularly female-owned businesses––all with a focus on strengthening the community and supporting others.

You can place an order through the order form in their Instagram bio. Once payment is received, you will get an email confirmation. Their ordering closes on Thursdays at noon, and an email will be sent out with delivery times.
