Nashville hot chicken has taken the Toronto food scene by storm. With restaurants clamoring to add Nashville hot chicken sandwiches to their menus, its popularity is reaching an all-time high in the city. Despite the fierce battle for hot chicken supremacy, two of Toronto's top hot chicken spots have decided to team up in a "community over competition" collaboration with FreePlay Arcade.
Tokyo Hot Fried Chicken and Chen Chen's Hot Chicken, both some of the top places in Toronto for Hot Chicken sandwiches, are wing battling it out to celebrate their new opening at FreePlay Arcade, located just north of Kensington Market.
Under one roof, they'll be serving up some of their staple items such as Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches, as well as a variety of chicken wings, with flavours ranging from the classic bbq, nashville hot or spicy sesame to unique ones such as okonomiyaki, honey butter and chocolate wings. They'll also be experimenting with sides such as togarashi spiced fries, nashville elote corn and biscuits.
FreePlay Arcade will also have a craft beer program to go along with the food. They have over 90 craft beers, with some so rare that you're unable to get them anymore.
Their soft opening is happening this weekend, starting November 28, where they are available for takeout only. With hopes that this pandemic may come to an end, there are ideas to expand into intriguing dining options as well. But we'll all have to wait on bated breath until then.
