Toronto has just got a new plant-based burger joint to add to the growing list of vegan must-eats, Mavericks Burgers Co.

Their burgers are 100 per cent plant based and they are made with every eater, vegan or not, in mind.  At Mavericks, nothing is sacrificed and everything is gained. The team reports their burgers are healthier, sustainable and more compassionate too. It’s a new approach to fast food they think consumers are craving.

Mavericks was founded by a group of food lovers, led by Darryl Neate.  After many years working as a sustainability professional in corporate real estate (which he still does) Neate couldn't shake the idea of creating a plant-based burger business.  It aligned with his values, passion for burgers and plant-based eating, and would fill a gap he saw in the market.

He developed Mavericks with the support of a number of advisors and partners (from the food industry and beyond), all of whom were committed to elevating plant-based eating and making it accessible to a wider audience. The team shares they started Mavericks to prove that tasty, craveable food can be kind to our world, the animals who roam on it and to our bodies.

Mavericks Burger Co. offers its guests a sophisticated, simple menu and unique experience that is quickly making waves through the Toronto Waterfront Community. Their signature burgers include their MavBurger with their own special mustard-forward sauce, Dragon Burger with sweet and sticky asian bbq sauce and slaw, and the 6IX Burger, with a nod to their roots and featuring crispy onion rings and BBQ sauce.

Mavericks loves bold flavours and their waffle fries do not disappoint. It’s impossible to choose a favourite––from the High School fries, which are loaded with house made vegan gravy, to the Pickle-Dilly fries, which are perfectly seasoned with dill. Finish off your perfect meal with a gooey cinnamon bun or homemade cookie and one of the delicious sweet and decadent vegan specialty drinks, beer or a Bubly.  Their interior is known to be vibrant and urban that features playful wall art, a custom-painted feature wall and floor to ceiling windows overlooking greenery.

Mavericks Burgers prides themselves in providing exceptional, authentic experiences to their customers. They like to creating personal connections, build community, reduce carbon footprints and commit to zero waste.

You can find the new plant-based burger spot at 15 Merchant's Wharf near Sugar Beach.
