One of Toronto's most upscale dining spaces, the Harbour 60 steakhouse, is housed in a truly historic building that has been one of the pillars of the city's architecture for over a century. Now, the iconic building and the restaurant it houses are swiftly on their way to even newer heights — literally and figuratively.
The already-uber-luxurious Harbour 60 has been earmarked for a massive facelift that will see it go from having one floor in the Toronto Harbour Commission Building to four newly-designed storeys housing "timeless architecture" and lavish interiors to dine in. At the project's helm is none other than world-renowned designer Ferris Rafauli — the master craftsman behind Drake's sprawling Bridle Path mansion.
On top of the four new floors of dining space, Harbour 60 2.0 is slotted to have "VIP hideaway spaces" for private events as well as a members-only nightclub and lounge on the top floor. The announcement of this new project came via a joint Instagram post by Rafauli's team and Harbour 60. The post consisted of a short video shot in black and white outlining the past of the iconic building and the vision for the future.
In 1917 the Toronto Harbour Commission first opened its doors, probably without realizing the kind of impact the building would have on the city. Eighty-two years later, Harbour 60 was established as the city's premier steakhouse. The rest, as they say, is history.
Since its inception, the restaurant has been serving Toronto and even the world's elite. The crème de la crème. The one percenters. It has been the destination for a highly-elevated experience, becoming the home base for many a celebrity, athlete and even political leader. It is by no means just a regular steakhouse. It's an experience served in the form of food.
And given the news of its latest renovations, all of the luxuries are bound to increase multifold. No one knows what's coming. And frankly, we don't think anyone is ready for Harbour 60 2.0. Given all the unknowns, one thing is for certain, though. It will coincide with the high standards that the restaurant sets for itself, as highlighted by its website.
"With a nod to our history, and a toast to tomorrow, we are established for one reason," the website states. "To offer the best you've ever had."
Currently, no timeline has been provided for the project, so all we can do is wait on the edge of our seats for completion.
