Paradise Grapevine, Mecca for natural wine fanatics and those in pursuit of something "fun and funky" are in luck because the Bloorcourt Village bar has just launched an in-store shop brimming with low-intervention wines that come hard to find via our usual purveyors of alcohol, aka the LCBO.
Since the onset of quarantine and the easing of takeaway booze restrictions, the bar has been doling out bottles of wine, beer, cider and chips through their online shop -- both for curbside pickup and delivery.
Paradise Grapevine has ventured into wine making themselves and currently offers a Gamay, Riesling and popular Orange Wine Rose.
As the city settles into the comforts of Stage 2 (finally) Torontonians are warmly greeting long forgotten freedoms, albeit with a few adjustments to suit the new normal. In the case for Paradise Grapevine, this means two things: their oasis of a hidden back garden patio is open for dine-in patrons and a walk-in wine shop has taken root inside the bar.
The retail shop opened its doors yesterday, July 7, for walk-in customers looking to snag "natty wonders, elegant classics and lots of champagne" as the shop promises. The wine shop will be open everyday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and allow a maximum of 4 people inside the store at all times. Headed by Lindsey Robyn King -- who has curated the selection -- is sure to provide insight on whatever occasion you are shopping for.
We may have been robbed of a few things this year, but I for one, am beyond giddy to have an outpost to peruse the wide assortment of natural wines Paradise Grapevine has to offer.
