This Toronto restaurant is dedicated to helping small businesses

Farmhouse Tavern has long been admired as a homey spot for incredible food, created using Ontario ingredients. Although we can no longer dine at their location indoors or on their cozy patio, they are still open for takeout. But that doesn't mean that their space has gone to waste -- Farmhouse Tavern has decided to use their empty patio as a way to help Toronto small businesses that are feeling the impacts of COVID-19 going into the holiday season and the end of the year.

Farmhouse Tavern

Farmhouse Tavern's cozy outdoor patio space, dubbed the barn by the restaurant.

This holiday season, Toronto is all about giving back. You've seen lists circulating of local alternatives to ensure that our favourite small shops/artisans/makers are there to greet us with open arms on the other side. Farmhouse Tavern is doing its part as well.

Until December 22, free of charge (yes, you read that correctly!), they are transforming into the spot for your business needs. Whether you are a bakery, butcher, crafter, beader, etc., the patio at Farmhouse Tavern is a great way to set up shop and provide a pickup location for your eager consumers. Think this can't get any better? They will even set up heaters for you. Just let them know what days you need and they will do their best to make it work. Hopefully, this seemingly simple gesture is just the start of unused spaces coming forward to positively impact local businesses that don't have the luxury of space.

Since they are helping out local businesses in Toronto, be sure to support them as well. Farmhouse Tavern is continuing to sell meal kits, cocktail kits, house-made products, wine and of course, is offering takeout. Located at 1627 Dupont Street, be sure to reach out to set up shop, or check it out to secure your next gift or treat for yourself. Keep it up, Farmhouse Tavern; Toronto loves you!
