These days, scrolling through the news is a bleak reminder that 2020 has been far from the year we had anticipated. Is it hard not to feel the existential dread wash over you as you read the umpteenth article of the day confirming that we are nowhere near the end of the road. So when you do come across a small act of kindness that instantaneously brings a smile to your face, it is hard not to share.
A relatively recent newcomer onto the Toronto food scene, Egg Club, known for its decadent breakfast sandwiches, just went the extra mile when it comes to outstanding customer service.
The egg-centric sandwich spot posted a PSA on their Instagram yesterday, explaining a mix-up they had made with a takeout order. In the caption, Egg Club apologized profusely for accidentally handing a customer a Bacon & Cheese Sandwich instead of a Ham & Cheese Sandwich (albeit not a huge mistake; the restaurant did not see it that way!). After running out of the store to find the already gone customer, the shop has turned to social media graces to try and find the mystery customer.
Egg Club has undeniably gone above and beyond when it comes to real hospitality. We may not be able to sit shoulder to shoulder and revel together in food, drink and laughter, but there still is a desire from the hospitality industry to bring a smile to their customer's faces.
If you're reading this, long-lost customer, a Ham & Cheese Sandwich, accompanied by an apology, is waiting for you at 88 Dundas St E, Toronto.
