Basketball fans, rejoice. The world's first NBA Courtside Restaurant is coming to Toronto this spring.
Described as "a premium, sports-inspired dining experience," the new eatery will be located at 15 Queens Quay East, just steps from the Scotiabank Arena, home of the NBA's Toronto Raptors.
“There’s no better location for the first NBA Courtside Restaurant than Canada, where basketball has a rich history and tradition,” NBA Canada Senior Vice President, Leah MacNab, said in a press release. “We can’t wait to welcome fans and guests from around the world to this incredible venue, where they can celebrate their shared love of the game in a unique way through a delicious meal and welcoming atmosphere.”
Toronto-based and family-owned Urban Dining Group, which has been a staple in the city's food scene since 1989, will handle the NBA Courtside Restaurant's operations. At the helm of the kitchen will be Toronto-based chef Erica Karbelnik, who won Top Chef Canada Season 9 and Chopped Canada Season 3. In her role, officially titled NBA Courtside Restaurant’s Culinary Ambassador, she will develop a globally-inspired menu that complements the decor.
“It’s an honour to be a part of something in our city that is so special. Toronto loves the game. It’s part of our culture, and to showcase that in such a creative way is truly amazing,” Karbelnik said in the press release. “From the artwork and wine to the food, this is a Toronto gem that will continue our love and passion for basketball. I am lucky to be a part of the NBA Courtside Restaurant and am excited to see what the future holds with the NBA."
The 10,000 square foot space will combine a restaurant and a retail space as well as a gallery-type space that showcases art from various local artists, a huge outdoor mural, private dining spaces, and for-purchase NBA-adjacent goods like sneakers, merch and more.
