Feasting on fresh oysters with an upscale restaurant experience is an activity cherished by many, but has become incredibly hard to come by at the time of the ongoing pandemic.
Surf n Turf GTA began during the pandemic as a way for hungry folks at home in isolation to still get the restaurant experience they’ve come to know and love. Chef Allan Lu began by delivering fresh, shucked oysters––a relatively uncommon food to prepare at home––to doorsteps across the GTA. They have since expanded their offerings and their overall services.
As the name suggests, Surf n Turf’s goal was to serve up premium quality seafood and the finest of meats, and pave the way for bringing the intricacies of luxury dining home to the customer. When appropriate, they also do private dining and events.
"With the restaurant and hospitality industry constantly changing the way that we view dining experiences, we wanted to adapt in tandem with these changes and offer customers a luxury service like no other, all while in the comfort of your own environment,” says Lu.
The business has been relatively successful, seeing as they had sold out towards the end of 2020. In the oyster game, availability is king and Surf n Turf’s offerings are somewhat reliant on what is available and more so, how much of the yield is up to their quality standards.
Luckily for us, Surf n Turf has revealed their latest drop with their “Fourteen Days of the Fourteenth” Valentine’s Day package.
The specially crafted meal box will include two dozen shucked oysters with five house-made mignonettes and heart-shaped lobster and lemon ricotta ravioli, carefully formed by hand to start with. The entrée features a 10-ounce ribeye and an 8-ounce tenderloin, which come vacuum-sealed along with their signature spice blend and steak sauce. The steaks and ravioli will also come with step-by-step instructions on how to prepare them. Charred broccolini and truffle parmesan roasted baby potatoes will also come on the side.
The customer will have the option to choose between two regional oysters––Malpeque from the east coast or Kusshi from the west coast. Additionally, they will be able to choose their preferred wine pairing.
The Surf n Turf team is stepping up the romance even more with an assortment of treats and novelties sourced from local businesses, like a 6-piece macaron box, a fresh bundle of 12 long-stemmed roses, helium-filled heart-shaped balloons and even a curated playlist hand-picked by Chef Lu to really set the mood.
The Valentine's day box will be available between the 11 and 25 of February. The package is available to preorder now, and will cost $279 until February 11. For orders that come through between February 11 and 25, it will cost $299.
You can place your order, as well as inquire about other offerings, through their website. Deliveries are available across the GTA.
