This bakery has big plans following the closure of their Toronto storefront

It was sad news following the announcement that one of Toronto's most beloved bakeries, Bake Shoppe, closed its doors back in September.

A destination for sweet treats like their famed Ruffles Marshmallow Squares, Drake-adorned sugar cookies and colourful pop tarts, Bake Shoppe became one of Toronto's must-visit bakeries since opening back in 2014. Yet, like many other small businesses, they suffered from the ongoing pandemic and were unable to keep their doors open.

If the devastation of their closing shop has yet to sink in, don't let it because this bakery has big comeback plans.

Following their College Street closure and taking the time to reevaluate their business, Bake Shoppe is back with two new exciting projects -- a Toronto-based commercial kitchen space and a new brick-and-mortar store opening.

In order to maintain a Toronto presence, the bakery has pivoted to operating a commercial kitchen at 1414b Dundas Street West and is continuing to bake up all your favourite cookies, squares and cakes. The new ghost kitchen does not offer any walk-in retail, like their prior store, but is open for curbside pickup from Thursday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment only. Orders must be placed in advance by emailing the shop at info@bakeshoppeto.com.

As the bakery continues to service Torontonians, the shop is also moving forward with an exciting expansion into a new market. Bake Shoppe announced back in December that their new location will be opening in Bolton, Ontario, the most populated town in Caledon, which lies approximately 50 kilometres northwest of Toronto. Caledon is a popular area for those looking to escape the city and lies just an hour and a half away from popular ski resort, Blue Mountain.

The shop is slated to open sometime in the spring of 2021 and expect all their classic menu items and a few new creations.
