The Green Wood, one of Toronto’s most beloved restaurants, announced they are closing down their two Toronto restaurants indefinitely.
The restaurant, which opened their second location in early 2020, is well-known for using local and sustainable ingredients to create their seasonal menus and exquisite brunch. Their homebase in Leslieville, just east of Greenwood Avenue, had served the neighbourhood since 2016. Both locations are now being closed for the foreseeable future.
“After more than four years on Queen St. East and our opening year on King St. West, we’ve made the tough decision to close up our restaurants and focus on next steps of The Green Wood as a whole,” they wrote on Instagram.
The Green Wood initially closed down for the season in late November 2020, which is nothing out of the ordinary for the seasonal restaurant, and planned to return earlier this year. Unfortunately, time grew longer and, like many restaurants this past year, were not able to weather the storm––at least not enough to open back up for the time being.
While they take some time off, the team assures their loyal customers that their hiatus is just a break, and that the Green Wood is not to be forgotten.
"We will miss all the familiar faces and hope to see you again one day."
