The Afri-Can FoodBasket launches Black Food Toronto support initiative

The Afri-Can FoodBasket, a non-profit organization that champions food justice in Toronto's African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) communities, has partnered up with a team to launch the Black Food Toronto initiative, which will provide emergency food support to ACB community members who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Working with Black Food Sovereignty, Ankobea Inc. and the City of Toronto, Black Food Toronto is raising money that will be used to purchase fresh produce for those who have received limited access to this crucial category of food during the pandemic. How does it work? By heading to their website, those who are able to donate can do so directly through the provided link, with all funds going to the Emergency Food Support program. Through this funding, the team at Afri-Can FoodBasket will coordinate weekly deliveries of fresh fruits and vegetables to in-need members of the ACB community at zero cost.

In order to determine recipients, those who need support are invited to fill out this Emergency Food Application form to ensure that they are considered for their needs. So, if you know anyone within this community who requires assistance in accessing fresh produce during this time, pass along this initiative and encourage them to register.

If you're looking for an organization to support right now, Black Food Toronto is a wonderful choice, as they are aiming to help out communities that could really use it during these tough times. For many, it is difficult to afford or gain access to fresh fruits and vegetables, yet they are especially critical right now for the maintenance of good health and a strong immune system. That's precisely why this initiative is so important and has the power to create such a positive impact on local communities, so if you are in a position to do so, please donate here and share it around!
