Spirit Tree
Drive into the rolling hills of Caledon to see the fall colours and while you’re there, stop in at Spirit Tree Estate Cidery. You can enjoy apple picking, their on-site bakery and farm shoppe and wood oven pizza on Friday and Saturday nights. Their craft ciders are made with Ontario apples, pears and other seasonal ingredients. The Pumpkin Spice Cider will satisfy all your cravings.
West Avenue
Just north of Burlington, sits the idyllic West Avenue Cider House. You may have sipped on their crisp ciders, which are available at the LCBO, but their stunning tasting room is worth the trip. They always have Heritage Dry and Cherriosity on tap, along with a rotating selection of their innovative tipples. You can even spend the night at the farm at their Somerset Cottage, which you can find on Airbnb.
Slabtown Cider Co.
Slabtown Cider is located east of the city, near Uxbridge. Looking over their 90 acres of farmland, you’ll understand how this family-owned and operated cidery has quickly made a name for itself. They’ve got a stellar lineup of heritage ciders, including Founder’s Dry and Pumpkin Spice, which oozes with the flavour of fall. The on-site restaurant offers up-scale pub classics, such as cider ribs and a bison burger. There is also live music Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Spy Cider House and Distillery
For those willing to drive a couple hours north, there are dozens of amazing cideries, big and small, located in Grey County. Spy is a standout for their ciders such as Crimson Tide, a black currant infused dry cider. They are making their own spirits as well, which go into their hand-crafted cocktails. The stunningly built tasting room features sky high windows and they’ve got a trailer for private events. Take a walk in their orchard that overlooks the Blue Mountains.
If you can’t make it out of the city, check out Brickworks Cider House located at Queen and Broadview or Her Father’s Cider Bar and Kitchen in Harbord Village.
