Last week the city announced the return of the Summerlicious food festival, with restaurant applications open until April 29.
The iconic event showcasing restaurants across the city will be running from August 12 to 28, with prix fixe menus filling the tables at participating spots throughout Toronto. While the past two years have seen hybrid versions of the event to adjust around the COVID-19 pandemic, this summer things are back in full for Summerlicious, with a few new changes as well for the new year with the goal of helping restaurants’ economic recovery.
The new changes include waiving the participation fee and simplifying the online application process, to make it easier for restaurants to be a part of the summer program. The city has also added three new price-point categories for prix fixe menus. Restaurants will pick a category for the price of their offering, based on the price of an average 3-course meal from the restaurant, or less. With the original categories ranging from $27 for lunch and $35 for dinner to $41 for lunch and $55 for dinner, the new price points added this year give a cheaper option at $20 for lunch and $25 for dinner, as well as two categories priced higher than the original range.
This will also be the first year Summerlicious has been in full swing with CaféTO, another of the city’s restaurant programs. Back by popular demand, the added patio space to many restaurants downtown will be sure to draw crowds for the prix fixe dining experiences.
