The well-known Toronto market is expanding to Forest Hill, their fourth grocery location.

Summerhill Market is inching closer to opening their day at their newest location, which started construction in 2020 after a year of planning. The beloved neighbourhood market revealed on their Instagram that construction is nearly finished and they will begin stocking their shelves in the upcoming weeks.

The new store, located on Eglinton Avenue West near Avenue Road, will boast an upscale vibe similar to its Annex sibling store. The new outpost will be selling market essentials, such as produce and meats as well as regular grocery staples. They will also have their personal deli department and house-made prepared foods.

The market will be dispersed between two levels, and will have stairs and an elevator to access both levels

Summerhill Market was founded by Frank McMullen, who opened the first Summerhill Market in 1954 in the Rosedale neighbourhood. The business is still family run by the McMullen clan, who were all encouraged to work at the market growing up.

The business has three operating locations, including their original Rosedale store as well as their expansions in Sherwood and the Annex. They also run a floral boutique on Mount Pleasant Road.

The new outpost is slated to open up at the end of February at the earliest, or the beginning of March, according to the company. All other Summerhill Market locations are still open for in-store shopping and are also available for grocery delivery and curb-side pick up.
