Enormously popular beer brand Stella Artois announced the launch of a new campaign as their effort to aid the many restaurants struggling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Rally for Restaurants" is a gift card program that all restaurants and bars across the country can register for online at www.rallyforrestaurants.ca, where Canadians are encouraged to buy cards to spend at their favourite spots, whether that be for takeout or once dine-in opens back up. Once a gift card is purchased, Stella will add an additional $10 to the value of the card, benefiting both the happy customer and the restaurant, who immediately and directly receive the extra amount. So far, many of Toronto's favourite spots have joined through the site, including El Catrin, Antler, Union Social and more.
Labatt Breweries of Canada, Stella's parent company, decided to implement the initiative as a way to encourage Canadian restaurant-goers to participate in supporting their local food scene, as well as provide some immediate relief for restaurants. Further, they hope to assist in strengthening the industry as a whole, as it's no secret that restaurants have been hit hard since being forced to close their doors a few weeks ago. Stella Artois, presumably along with all food-loving Canadians, wants to ensure that many of these spots that may be in danger of closing as a result of the pandemic can have a stronger chance at staying afloat during these unprecedented times. In total, they will be donating up to $250,000 as part of this incredible campaign.
