Stackt market is back in the new year, this time with a focus on supporting local producers.
With the pandemic continuing to impact small businesses, the popular shipping container market opened its doors to local artisans, creators and food entrepreneurs. The goal is to offer a safe and distanced shopping experience for Toronto residents that spotlights local businesses.
The initiative launched yesterday and will commence every weekend for the month of January. Local vendors are being encouraged to apply for a spot in future markets as well.
Right now, the market features five local vendors as well as the Stackt bottle shop, which sells a curated selection of beer, wine and cocktail kits.
Fidel Gastro’s is on the scene with some of their marketplace favourites––also available for order and pickup out of their online market space. The offerings include their heat and serve meatballs, homemade tomato sauce, house-smoked meats and even their coveted “Pad Thai Fries” sauce.
Chef Trevor Lui of Joybird is offering his own chef-curated grocery kit fitted with all the ingredients to prepare a tasty meal. Joybird reopened at Stackt on Canada Day of 2020 and are still serving up their delicious smash burgers and fried chicken sandwiches.
Also on the roster is the artisanal caesar mix from Singers, delicious homemade jams, jellies and sauces from Moose River Preserves and a series of fine Mexican eats and dips from Mad Mexican.
Stackt Market is located at 28 Bathurst Street near Front Street and is open Tuesdays through to Sundays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The farmers market is scheduled to take place every weekend of January from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
