Get ready to stroll, sip and dine, Toronto! America's largest open-air food market makes its grand return to our city on June 24, 2023.
Smorgasburg will host 50 unique vendors every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., from June 24 to September 9, along the waterfront at 7 Queens Quay East. Admission is free, the event is open to all ages, and it features a full outdoor bar with harbour views and seating.
This year, the self-described "giant food flea market" is produced by Collective Concerts, Toronto’s largest independent concert promoter and local event producer.
A U.S. import, Smorgasburg is a weekly summer market in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Los Angeles, Miami, and now Toronto. Smorgasburg launched in New York in 2011, as a spinoff of Brooklyn Flea (which was founded in 2008), and has since sparked many small businesses and attracted millions of visitors.
Since its inception, this celebration of culinary excellence has been recognized by multiple media outlets across North America, and is a prime attraction for residents and tourists alike. This is thanks to Smorgasburg's wealth of food options, and its reputation as a launchpad for food entrepreneurs. In fact,The New York Times has dubbed Smorgasburg “The Woodstock of Eating.”
With twelve weeks of programming in the works for Toronto this year, the list of 50 participating Toronto vendors includes more than 20 new vendors for 2023.
New vendors this year include the beloved Glory Hole Doughnuts, barbecue connoisseurs Tito's BBQ Cookout, seafood haven Authentique Delights, and bao experts Bao Is Life.
Returning favourites include Tacos 101, Alun Alun Indonesia, Hielito Bits and Bear Pung Authentic Thai Desserts.
