Sanjeev Masala Co. launches in memory of legendary restauranteur

One of the most esteemed Indian restaurant groups in Toronto, The Host has launched a new product line called 'Sanjeev Masala Co'.  to commemorate the life and legacy of one of the founders, Sanjeev Sethi, who passed away in 2019 due to Ampullary cancer.

This family-owned restaurant group has been serving authentic Indian cuisine in Toronto since the mid-90's. Sanjeev and his brother Jay opened their first restaurant in 1995 at the French Tudor-style mansion previously home to one of Toronto's most influential restaurants, La Scala Restaurant, and introduced Toronto to The Host, known for their fine Indian cuisine. The Host Restaurants company is now behind more popular fine dining Indian restaurants in Toronto like Mantra at Don Mills and Bhai's Canteen.

The new product line starts with 'The Masala Kit', which features five of the most popular Indian masalas. The kit includes 1.8-ounce jars of the five fundamental masalas needed to start your journey into mastering authentic Indian cooking, and were crafted by the late chef for over 25 years. The kit includes Garam Masala , Dhaniya Jeera, Chai Masala, Biryani Masala and Tandoori Masala. Every week, Sanjeev Masala Co. will also post detailed recipes on their website to invite their audience to learn the art of Indian cuisine with Sanjeev's spices.

In the near future they plan to release more masalas every month, as Sanjeev’s kitchen has over 30 different masala blends. In April they will begin the launch of Sanjeev Masala Co’s Grade A Spices, which will allow customers to individually purchase the Grade A spices that Host uses for their masalas. These spices are all ethically sourced from India.

The late chef constantly gave back in anyway he could and had made countless food donations throughout his life––in addition he gave his time, money and anything he could offer to those who needed it in his community. With that in mind a portion of every sale made from the Sanjeev Masala Co. will go into a charitable fund with his name.

The masala kit is available online and can be picked up at any of the Host Restaurant locations, or be delivered directly to your home anywhere in the world. It is available for $59 and includes a $15 voucher to any of their restaurants.
