Premier Doug Ford has just announced that Toronto and Peel regions are allowed to move into Stage 2 of reopening during his address today, June 22 at 1 p.m. As of Wednesday, June 24 at 12:01 a.m. Toronto and Peel are officially allowed to enter into Stage 2. Windsor-Essex will be unable to move into Stage 2 as they have not seen the same decrease in cases as the other regions have.
Ontario has seen an 8 day decrease, with cases consistently below 200 and the number of cases dropping to the lowest amount the province has seen in 3 months.
Restaurants will finally be allowed to open their patios to the public for dine-in eating; something we have all been anxiously waiting for. As most were expecting Toronto to be able to move forward into Stage 2 come this Friday, the news that the Premier has decided to lift restrictions Wednesday comes as a very pleasant surprise.
Of course, certain protocols to ensure the healthy and safety of employees and customers will be implemented but this marks a huge accomplishment for the city's efforts to flatten the curve.
