Over the holidays, people usually get divided into two distinct categories: ones who go into full chef mode and prepare large delicious meals for their near and dear ones, and ones who don't feel particularly inclined to even step into the kitchen.
If you're someone who falls into the latter portion but still desires a memorable meal to wrap up the year, fret not! Jon Turner, the chef at REIGN at the Fairmont Royal York, and his talented culinary team has curated special holiday menus that are fit for all to enjoy.
Lasting until Boxing Day, one can indulge in REIGN's special holiday dinner— a three-course prix fixe meal at $99 per person. At that price, you get to choose a starter, main and dessert.
The options to choose from are as follows:
Starter: Either a Kabocha Squash Bisque (walnut tapenade, sourdough, parsnip chip) or Root Vegetable Panzanella (pomegranate seeds, baby kale, hazelnuts, aged balsamic.)
Main: Select one from Rooftop Honey-Glazed Black Cod (purple gem potatoes, spicy mustard brussels sprouts, squash puree), Roasted Butternut Squash (brown butter, sage, chestnuts, wheat berries, pear) and Braised Veal Cheek (heirloom baby carrots and french beans, whipped yukon potato, braised jus, gremolata.)
Dessert: Choose between a Mont Blanc Log (chestnut cream, mincemeat, pain d'epices) and Amarena Snow Log (manjari truffle, amarena cherry, pistachio gelato.)
Now, while the Christmas Eve and Christmas day holiday dinners are fully booked, all the other dates are still open for reservations. Since the Fairmont Royal York is such a popular destination with its Christmas pop-up bar The Thirsty Elf, we have no qualms in concluding that the rest of the dates are going to move swiftly as well, so book asap!
If you have your heart set on having a festive meal at REIGN on Christmas, the festive Sunday brunch menu running from Dec. 4 to Dec. 25 is your best option!
At $89 per adult and $45 per child 12 and under, you get a pantry buffet that offers fruit, cereal, pastries, breads, charcuterie, seafood, salads and more. On top of that, you also get one choice of main course, with dishes ranging from house-smoked trout benny and prime rib benny to steak frites and croque madame. And to top it all off, there is also a festive dessert table featuring a selection of tarts and other small bites.
With the holiday dinner already fully booked, we believe the Sunday brunch will be the next to go, so make your reservations at the speed of light!
Lastly, if staying in and catering to your loved ones is your preferred way of spending the holidays, The Fairmont Royal York has you covered for those situations as well!
Executive Chef JW Foster and his culinary team have prepared an entire festive meal for your dear ones so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time with them in the moment.
Meals start at $300 before taxes and include your choice of either a turkey or a ham with all of the trimmings. All you have to do is order, pick it up and serve! Easy as pie (apple, cherry, key lime — we leave that up to you.)
The deadline to order a pre-made meal is Today, December 21st by noon or while quantities last. The pick-up dates are Dec. 24 and 25 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. In true giving spirit, $5 from each order will be donated to Make-A-Wish Canada.
