A famed Toronto vegan pizza and snack bar has launched an online store for the holidays.
Apiecalypse Now is a well-known spot for vegan eaters in Toronto, offering a line-up of plant-based snacks and impeccable vegan pizza. The Bloor West spot shut down last month amid Toronto’s most recent lockdown, but are coming back with a small online seasonal menu.
The holiday menu includes a limited selection of hearty plant-based meals, including an extra ‘cheesy’ mac and cheese ($15), shepherd’s pie ($14) and a creamy vegan chicken pot pie ($13.50) to name a few.
While these aren’t the popular items Apiecalypse Now fans have come to know and love, it showcases the business’ drive to adapt to the situation––continuing to sling their celebrated plant-based comfort fare with a holiday twist.
The items will be available for delivery in Toronto, which is offered by the restaurant and not through third-party services.
Since their closure, Apiecalypse Now no longer has a designated location to arrange pickups, but have partnered with PenguinPickUp to offer a pickup option.
While the system seems a little precarious, many small businesses continue to struggle or close down, forcing them to adapt to changes and offer new channels of service.
Apiecalypse Now is a rugged example of this, and are counting on their faithful patrons to stick with them through their uncertain times.
“We have never struggled to feel loved or supported by you all,” they wrote on Instagram.
“Through thick and thin, the thing we could always rely on was that you, our patrons, would be there for us, regardless of the weather, the day of the week, or even the state of the world, you have been there.”
Items from the holiday menu are ready for pre-order on the Apiecalypse Now website, available for delivery or pickup on December 23 and 24.
