Pusateri's returns to roots with new store announcement

Birthdays and anniversaries are usually quite an introspective time for some people. They look at all that they've done, everything that has made them what they are. They are an acknowledgement of the past along with a nod toward the future. Pusateri's Fine Foods has similar ideologies when it comes to celebrating milestones.

In a manner fitting the brand's 60th-anniversary celebrations, Pusateri's will be opening its latest store in the neighbourhood where the family's original store, Pusateri's Supermarket, opened in 1963. Located at College and Ossington Streets, the latest location is set to open in late summer 2023.

"We’re super excited to join this vibrant community, and we can’t help reflect that in a way, we’re returning back to our roots as the original Pusateri’s Supermarket opened in 1963 in Toronto’s first Little Italy, St Clair & Dufferin," Pusateri's wrote in an Instagram post revealing the incoming location.

The Little Italy community can expect the new location to uphold the same reputation and standards Pusateri's is known for; a high-quality assortment of everyday, specialty and unique products, exceptional services for any special occasion and everyday celebrations with fresh and prepared foods, gift items and floral arrangements.

The new location at 899 College St. will include a café concept offering breakfast, a coffee bar with signature brews and a daily menu with indoor and outdoor seating which should encourage people to gather at the spot, creating a neighbourhood hub for the local community.

Community is a big theme at any of the five locations that Pusateri's operates through in the Greater Toronto Area, where team members look forward to providing the best service possible and guiding one through picking the right products for them, be it cutting meat to order at the Macellaria or choosing from an assortment of fresh cakes and pastries at La Pasticceria.

The family and the brand have come a long way in the 60 years of operation. Today, it stands as a pillar of society, striving to uphold a certain standard of excellence while integrating social responsibility with initiatives supporting animal welfare, the environment, food safety and the community.

And to think that all of this started when a young boy named Cosimo Pusateri arrived in Canada from Sicily in 1957.

While an exact date is unknown, Pusateri's Fine Foods' latest location at 899 College St. is expected to be open to the public sometime during the summer.
