A popular Markham Japanese restaurant offering premium seafood dons just opened a new location in Toronto. This week, Hana Don just opened at Fairview Mall in North York and is pushing out upscale donburi topped with the freshest seafood directly imported from Japan.
Hana Don opened in Markham less than two years ago and have grown in popularity since due to the opulent ingredients and meals they offered out of their original outpost.
They import their seafood fresh from Japan within five days of ordering. Due to this freshness, many of their dishes rotate on a seasonal basis. Along with their fish, they also have special preparations for their sushi rice and white rice (used for their donburi rice bowls), which require special equipment and hand-fanning to achieve the ideal texture.
They are most popular for their premium donburi, Japanese rice bowls topped with ingredients such as fish, seafood and others. Their most popular dons include the Lobster Don, which uses a whole 1.5-pound lobster and cheese sauce, as well as their Trio Toro Don, which includes three different cuts of fatty tuna and caviar. The donburi also offers traditional izakaya-style fare like hot plates, noodles, sushi, sashimi and more.
You can find Hana Don's new location at Unit 2020-1800 Sheppard Ave on the south side of Fairview Mall. They're open strictly for takeout due to lockdown measures but will be showcasing their extravagant interior once certain restrictions are lifted. Until then, you can always call in and pre-order takeout via in-store pickup, Uber Eats, or DoorDash for the time being.
