Popular unicorn-themed cafe reopens after being closed over a year

Unicorn Cafe, a cafe centred around the magical beast, has reopened after being closed for over a year.

The cafe is located on Toronto's popular Danforth strip and is Canada’s first unicorn-themed cafe. Owner Lien Nguyen, who also owns Poop Cafe, drew inspiration from other unicorn cafes from around the world.

They had opened at the start of 2020 to massive buzz before having to be shut down to the pandemic.

“We couldn't stay open," says Nguyen. "Unicorn Cafe is where people want to come in, stay and enjoy the atmosphere. Times got hard and we barely held on. I almost gave up my dream because of COVID.”

At Unicorn Cafe, you’ll find Instagram-worthy colourful desserts, espresso-based drinks, snacks and milkshakes––like the Unicorn Milkshake, which is a massive cotton candy flavoured milkshake that is accompanied with even more cotton candy, a unicorn cookie, lollipop and marshmallow. They also do Asian-inspired mains like poke bowls and Vietnamese sandwiches as well.

Unicorn Cafe is located at 2036 Danforth Avenue, just west of Woodbine Avenue on the north side. They are open everyday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for takeout and delivery. They have had long lineups since their reopening, so be sure to head there during the weekdays to avoid such lines.
