Salad King, one of Toronto's most famous Thai restaurants, just opened its second location after pushing their initial grand opening.
The iconic restaurant known for casual Thai dishes has been operating since the early 90s on Yonge Street near Ryerson University, and had previously revealed their new Queen West digs in December. The new outpost, located in the heart of Queen West near McCaul Street, had planned to open in January 2021. Like most projects throughout the pandemic though, their opening wash pushed to an unknown future date. Fortunately for us, the wait is over.
According to toronto.com, the owners thought about the idea of opening a second restaurant for several years, and during the fall of 2019, they found the right spot for their second location. They ended up signing the lease on the new restaurant in January 2020, just before the first lockdown in the city was announced.
After waiting for over a year, the newest location is now fully open for takeout after overcoming all the challenges of opening a restaurant during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The Queen West location offers some of their most popular dishes like the celebrated 'Phud Thai', curries and Thai iced tea. Besides the food, the steel and orange facade also reminds customers of the look of the original restaurant. In their Instagram account, they've shared pictures of the interior which also displays their iconic colourful wall designs.
Salad King's new digs is located at 224 Queen Street West in Toronto. Pickup and delivery are available through popular ordering platforms.
