Popular ramen brand opens fried chicken concept

One of Toronto's most popular ramen brands just opened a new fried chicken concept. Ramen Isshin, ranked one of the best ramen shops in the city, launched a fried chicken concept, Tosaka, operating out of Etobicoke.

Owners Jason Matsubara, Zenimaru Koji, and Adam Chan came up with the concept over the last year and wanted to bring it to life. "Our fried chicken appetizer at Ramen Isshin was so popular, we started experimenting with creating a second brand since "fried chicken" was such a hit during the covid pandemic," says Matsubara.

On the menu, you'll find crunchy chicken karaage as an appetizer that comes in its classic and spicy version. You'll also find it in sandwich form with homemade original tartar sauce, Tosaka Umami Sauce, pickled tomato & daikon, lettuce, cabbage and stuffed into brioche buns. You can also get it spicy or covered in Japanese curry as well.

The success has been tremendous and they are looking to open another location in Ottawa, where the next Ramen Isshin will be opening. However, due to labour shortage, they're pushing it out until late 2022.

Tosaka Japanese Fried Chicken is located at 20 Lockport Ave. in Etobicoke. They're open Thursday to Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. They are available for delivery only at the moment as they aren't ready for dine in just yet. Be sure to go out and try for yourself.
