One of the most popular Korean BBQ spots in the GTA is opening up another location just west of Toronto.
Daldongnae is an authentic Korean barbecue restaurant that is widely regarded as one of the best in the city. Last week, they opened a new location in Mississauga, their first venture in the region, at the Mississauga Chinese Centre. They are popular for their self-cooking tabletop grills that patrons use to cook up all the quality meats and veggies they order.
On the menu, you'll find quality cuts of beef and pork. The focus is on these two primary meats and they have so many different cuts of each. For the pork selection, they have cuts like the pork belly, pork shoulder and jowl (cheek). Each one brings different levels of tenderness, fat, flavour and texture. The beef options are even larger with popular dishes like the boneless short rib, hanging tender, rib eye roll, tenderloin, chuck and beef fingers (name of the cut...not actual fingers).
Besides the various cuts of raw meat, you can also grill up some mushrooms, shrimp and a variety of other vegetables. They have a nice selection of hot prepared dishes as well, like seafood pancakes, corn cheese, soups, spicy squid and others. Don't forget to wash it all down with a nice selection of flavoured sojus, like grapefruit, green grape, peach and apple.
Daldongnae's new digs can be found at 888 Dundas East in Mississauga. The indoor dining area is still under construction, so the patio is the only way to enjoy for now. They're open from 12 p.m. through to midnight. If their uptown locations are any indication, you can expect massive lines and long wait times, but it'll be well worth it.
