The Ascari Hospitality Group, owners of restaurants like Ascari Enoteca and Gare De L’est Brasserie, have opened a new boutique specialty wine and food storefront at 1091 Queen St. East called Mercatino E Vini. Exclusive to the store will be a collection of wines, prepared meals and a small cafe counter for patrons to enjoy.
The idea stemmed from Ascari Enoteca owners, who have been using the space as a shop for meal kits and wine during the Covid-related lockdown. It had been quite successful with the community and they didn’t want to stop. In anticipation of a possible reopening, they wanted to ensure that their clientele still had access to the retail experience they came to expect from the restaurant, thus establishing this storefront.
Located just down the street from the restaurant, the new store will continue selling its extensive list of wines, meal packages, pantry items, and some groceries as well. Set to open sometime in the Spring of 2021, be sure to keep your eyes peeled on their Instagram for the official grand opening. All of the items available through the store will continue to be available for curbside pick-up or delivery directly through their website.
