Samosa Hut, famously known for their Butter Chicken Samosa and Spicy Mutton Shawarma, has now launched 11 different naan tacos as a part of their menu.
They first opened in early 2015 in Ajax and have been proclaimed as the 'pioneer of fusion food culture' by their customers ever since. What first started out as a home business has become a staple in the Ajax community and for people all across the GTA wanting to try Samosa Hut's signature dishes. They vary from fusion quesadillas and burritos, kothu roti, fusion panzos, signature stuffed patties, samosas and now crispy naan tacos.
These tacos feature 11 of Samosa Hut's signature flavours––Mango-Pineapple Habenero Chicken, Butter Chicken, Tandoori Fried Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Devil Chilis Chicken, Chicken Curry, Spicy Mutton (Goat) Curry, Tandoori Paneer, Cauliflower 65, Sweet Chilli Soy and Channa Masala. There are options for vegans and vegetarians as well.
Samosa Hut calls their tacos, the 'HERCULES of TACOS' as it's a massive loaded taco in a crispy, deep fried, chewy naan.
The owner, Jathees Selvarajah, shared that he started out in the fitness industry for 15 years before making the switch to pursue entrepreneurship in the food industry. He always had a passion for others enjoying his food with a smile, which is why he decided to open up Samosa Hut. Selvarajah grew up in an immigrant family from Tamil Eelam, where he experienced many hardships growing up with a single mother and two other siblings. His late mother has been his inspiration and motivation for pursuing his passion for food and working hard regardless of any challenges that may come by.
The pandemic has made it really hard for Samosa Hut to think of new concepts and ideas to continue engaging their customers outside of their fusion samosas. Selvarajah wanted to execute something different, so he started with butter chicken shawarma and spicy mutton shawarma. These innovative concepts resulted in people across the GTA pouring in to try the delicious new items. From then, Samosa Hut released a full menu of fusion dishes for the rest of the year.
They also plan to open a new Samosa Hut location in Whitby next month in April. They are also planning to open a food truck called "The Funnel Hut" that will specialize in funnel cakes and sweety pies (a take on Beaver Tails made with sweet fried naan) located in the Food Truck Alley in Clarington. All are aimed to open on April 9.
The Naan Taco's are now available at Samosa Hut and are only $6 on Tuesdays. For more information regarding their expansion across the GTA and new menu additions follow their social media.
