Popular fried chicken spot opens second location on Queen West

If you're a fan of fried chicken (and who isn't?!), you have most likely experienced the beauty of PG Cluck's, one of Toronto's tastiest and most popular chicken joints.

The restaurant's current and only location occupies a mere 200 square feet of space at College and Clinton, operating as a takeout-only spot that slings loaded sandwiches and Nashville-style hot chicken. Their chicken has gained many loyal fans across the city over the years due to its unique preparation style and unbelievable crispiness. Deboned chicken leg meat gets a 24-hour lemon and herb brine followed by a soak in tangy buttermilk, then is double-dredged before going into the frier to achieve maximum crisp

Although they've seen wild success in Toronto, PG Cluck's has been limited in what they are able to offer due to a lack of space. However, great news comes this week as they announce the opening of a second location on Queen West that is significantly larger, providing them with more room to grow.

Their new digs will take over the former home of Poutini's at Queen and Lisgar, with a sizeable kitchen that will allow them to expand the menu. In addition to their famous sandwiches, which feature creamy coleslaw, sour pickles, smoky chili sauce and buttermilk ranch alongside the wonderfully crunchy chicken, they will also serve tenders and French fries at the new spot. For post-meal treats, they'll bulk up their dessert options, too.

The plan for PG Cluck's 2.0 is to open up by the beginning of 2021 and maintain their focus on takeout food. If you live in the Queen West area, get ready for a bigger outpost of this famous Toronto spot -- and prepare to enjoy some of the best fried chicken you'll ever try. Keep an eye out for updates on their Instagram, and in the meantime, you can still visit their original College Street location to get your chicken fix.
