The highly anticipated vegan restaurant is the newest PLANTA offshoot to open in Toronto, taking over the former Chase Fish & Oyster off of Yonge Street. Owned by Chase Hospitality Group, PLANTA Cocina is chef David Lee’s latest venture in upscale plant-based dining -- this time inspired by Mexican cuisine.
The menu features vegan and vegetarian twists on your favourite Mexican dishes, such as black bean taro tots, spinah (cabbage, spinach, cashew mozzarella) empanadas, jackfruit tinga tacos, grilled pineapple and coconut ceviche tostadas, and more.
This will be an exciting addition to the PLANTA family, which includes locations in Yorkville, the Financial District, and on Queen St. in Toronto, in addition to South Beach in Miami and additional forthcoming locations in Florida and New York. With the popular Rosalinda still temporarily closed, PLANTA Cocina comes at a good time for a new vegan Mexican spot downtown.
PLANTA Cocina is located at 10 Temperance Street and is currently open for dine-in Thursday to Saturday, 5–10 p.m. As of September 28, hours switch to Monday to Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m.; Thursday to Friday, 11:30 a.m.–11:30 p.m.; Saturday 5–11:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 5–10:30 p.m.
