Naan & Chai, a Pakistani fusion restaurant known for carrying over 40 different stuffed naans and signature chai, are set to open a new location just outside of Toronto this week.
They currently have two storefronts located in Toronto and Mississauga and have revealed a third location will be opening up on May 12 in Ajax, Ont. This is exciting news for Durham residents, as they will now be able to experience traditional and fusion-style naan that stays true to the Pakistani culture.
Naan and chai are two staple items found in Pakistani households that bring memories of family, friends, childhood and comfort. The team behind Naan & Chai emphasize that the act of serving and drinking chai amongst family and friends is an occasion to spend quality time in a group of good company, which is accompanied by buttery naan to snack on as well.
Some of their popular naans are the butter chicken naan, smoked brisket naan and the 'Achari Paneer' naan. The fusion naans are what set them apart from the rest––they have created a Texas BBQ chicken naan stuffed with buttermilk roasted chicken, mozzarella, poblano lime and BBQ sauce, and is served with a garlic dip. Or you could try a Philly cheese steak naan stuffed with Montreal-style steak, mushrooms duxelle, mozzarella cheese and poblano lime BBQ sauce.
They have a separate vegetarian naan menu with 11 types to choose from, like a mushroom 'Mutter Malai' naan stuffed with mushrooms, green peas and a creamy tomato sauce served with a smoked garlic dip. Or a 'Veggie Mexicana' studded with beans, sweet corn, mozzarella and salsa. Lastly, they've mastered sweet naan as well, to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. You can choose from a marscarpone, honey and pistachio naan, Reese's and cookies naan and a few others on their menu.
Naan & Chai also offers an extensive tea menu with teas from across the world. One of Naan & Chai's signature chai is the 'Saffron Karak Chai' made with a blend of black loose tea leaves, saffron and crushed cardamom, that is slowly cooked in milk.
With the new Ajax location set to open on May 12, residents near by have already expressed their excitement for the new venture. They will be located at 65 Kingston Road East.
