There are plenty of Starbucks Coffee shops in Toronto, and you'll see one on almost every block but it is always difficult to bid farewell to an original location. The approximate total number of Starbucks' in the city is 160, crowning Toronto at 6th place in the world! Although there is no shortage of Starbucks' in the city, we sadly say goodbye to one of the original and oldest Starbucks locations at 765 Yonge Street.
This particular Starbucks location has been around for over 20 years. The shop posted a thank you sign on their doors and windows, as well as a list of nearby locations (of course, there are a handful within kilometres).
Residing in an old bookstore, The Albert Britnell Book Shop, this location had managed to maintain plenty of its original character and history. Starbucks preserved the book store's old wooden shelves and sign to uphold the look and feel of the original book shop. This location was unique in that it tethered itself to Toronto's history -- especially as the city becomes more and more defined by new development.
Luckily, there are plenty of other Starbucks' around the city within walking distance. There's also a very busy Tim Horton's just beside this now-closed Starbucks, for the Tim's fans and die-hard Canadians. That being said, there are still a ton of options for your morning coffee. However, we will miss the charm of this old gem.
