The popular LOV on King West is well known for their elegant take on plant-based fare. They offer a large variety of clean, vegan dishes that we can't get enough of. Now, they're bringing their take on vegan sushi to Toronto.
The menu was created in collaboration with the esteemed sushi master Christian Manuel Ventura. Dominic Bujold, the owner of LOV, had visited Ventura's esteemed restaurant 'Sushi Momo' in Montreal to try out his vegan menu. After tasting his sushi with the absence of seafood, Bujold was convinced to make vegan sushi more accessible, launching Montreal's Bloom Sushi in 2019.
Bloom is now popping up at LOV in Toronto, bringing all the same values as their Montreal sister. The menu is inspired by the love and passion of sushi but with a sustainable approach––they want to invite their customers to consider the future of our planet and oceans. Instead of your typical raw fish, the sushi is replaced with mushrooms, sweet potato, avocado, tofu, tomato and other vegetables.
They offer a variety of individual rolls or combos made up of miso soup, gyoza and futomaki. A popular roll is their 'Queen' roll made up of tofu, avocado, fukujin, tempura and yuzu sauce. Another roll on their menu is the 'Bollywood' roll made up of fried tempeh, avocado, sweet potato, green onion tempura, shiba zuke, Japanese curry aioli, spicy sauce and pesto. If you're looking for something spicier the 'Fiesta' roll is for you, made with sweet potato, avocado, jalapeno, takana, tempura, spicy sauce, sriracha, pesto.
The Bloom Sushi counter is available everyday at LOV King West from 4:30 p.m. to closure.
