A new Middle Eastern restaurant just opened in the Beaches

The Beaches have just welcomed a new Israeli-style restaurant, offering fresh, local food for takeout and delivery that features unique Middle Eastern flavours.

Limon takes over the former home of The Elm Tree, a popular, family-run Mediterranean restaurant that closed down over the summer due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19. Something good came of it, however, when brothers Benjamin and Jonathan decided to create another spot featuring Mediterranean-style cooking with a heavy focus on Israeli cuisine. At Limon, their concept showcases high-quality ingredients, traditional techniques and interesting flavours in a bright, fun space that is ideal for a casual and healthy lunch or dinner.

The menu features salatim to start, a traditional Israeli course that directly translates from Hebrew to "salad" but actually represents a wide variety of small dishes served before a meal. At Limon, this includes dips like babaganoush (eggplant), labne (strained yogurt) and hummus (chickpea), as well as a beet salad, spiced carrots, coleslaw and fried eggplant.

Vegetable-focused main courses range from crispy falafel with tahini, fried cauliflower with sumac and sesame and a few different herb-flecked salads, while meat eaters can enjoy a juicy burger, lamb kefta, strip steak and beef or chicken kebabs.

They also have fish options including roasted rainbow trout, pan-seared salmon and sea bream, and all of the main dishes are served with a choice of sides like rice, salad, freekeh or home fries. To sip alongside your meal, they even carry unique imported spring juices from Israel.

Limon is currently open for takeout and UberEats delivery seven days a week, so stop by or order ahead to enjoy a delicious, nutritious meal that features the wonderful flavours of the Middle East.
