If you’re an inclusive dessert consumer, you know that there’s no single season for gelato. Marvelous in summer, it’s just as magical when temperatures drop, and winter’s assault has you craving pleasure. Opened earlier this month, Nani’s Gelato Liberty Village is the newest spot to sate your desire — in winter, spring, summer or fall — for top-quality artisanal gelato infused with traditional Italian and Asian flavours.
Founded by frozen-dessert expert Parry Sohi, Nani’s Gelato started out in 2019 as a food truck offering gelato and sorbetto (gelato's water-based cousin) in a range of inventive flavours. Doling out the type of creative spin on a classic that Toronto loves, demand for the company’s frozen marvels soon exceeded the truck’s capacity. In 2020, Sohi opened a bricks-and-mortar location on Charles Street. A year later, a Mississauga location further expanded the company’s reach. Now, Nani’s Gelato has grown to include a third location in Liberty Village, a neighbourhood teeming with condos, couples and enough tots to fuel a veritable gelato empire.
Open seven days a week, Nani’s Gelato at 120 Lynn Williams Street will offer the same rotating menu as its sister locations, with a range of frozen treats in gelato, sorbetto, soft serve, gelato bar and gelato cake form. Currently, gelato scoops include fruit-forward Italian Red Cherry and Mango Saffron Cheesecake along with über-indulgent Pistachio Cannoli, Belgian Cookie and Double Chocolate Nutella. Gelato bars and gelato cakes, including gluten-free and vegan options, will join the roster in early February. Hardcore fans will have to watch the company’s Instagram to catch the return of favourites like Thai Red Tea, Vietnamese Coffee and Sweet Milk Jalebi.
Now franchising globally, Nani's Gelato is set to expand even further within Canada, the United States, and abroad. Until then, you can now visit any of the company's three GTA locations for a taste of Nani's superlative sweets.
