As far as book tours go, Elena has got the recipe on lock.
To celebrate the release of its new publication, "Salad Pizza Wine: And Many More Good Things from Elena," the revered pizza and pasta spot from Montreal's hosting two pizza parties around Toronto to introduce the locals to its products.
The spot is bringing its mobile, wood-fired pizza oven to two fun neighbourhood spots today and Wednesday. The first stop on the list is Donna's at 827 Lansdowne Ave. The restaurant will play host to Elena's cookbook dinner party from 6 p.m. to 10 pm. No reservations are required — so come on in for a night of delectable fare.
As for Wednesday, the winery and bar Paradise Grapevine will be the setting for the pizza oven on wheels. Elena's will be slinging pizzas from 6 p.m. until all products are sold out. Patrons will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis for a night of pizza, wine and, of course, Elena's latest cookbook.
Speaking of the latest creation to come out of Montreal, "Salad Pizza Wine" features over 115 recipes from Elena's kitchen over the years, including salads, pizzas, pasta, hoagies, meats, fish, desserts and more — but it's also so much more than that.
"This book is a story about growing up, not taking yourself too seriously and building the kind of community we could've only dreamed of being part of one day," Elena shared on its Instagram page.
This book is an ode to everything that the restaurant has done and everyone that has helped in making it the institution it is today. Combine all that knowledge with stunning photography and interesting illustrations and you have a recipe for success.
The book's authors were a part of the restaurant's opening team who came together, looking to start afresh after being burnt out from years in the industry. The solution to the problem at hand was to create a restaurant that was equal parts the food and the work environment.
"Whether it’s planning a dinner or letting go of stuff that no longer serves you, Salad Pizza Wine encourages you to choose your own adventure—both in the kitchen and in life," Elena's website states.
