One of the most popular Hong Kong-style bakeries in the GTA is opening a fourth location this spring.
Lucullus Bakery is bringing their traditional HK-style buns and pastries to North York at an outpost that’s just minutes away from North York Centre Station.
Like their other locations in Markham and Richmond Hill, they’ll be serving their sought-after egg tarts and bo lo bao (pineapple bun), as well as cakes, all six flavours of their shortbread cookies, drinks and savoury rice boxes and dim sum items.

The only difference is that this store will take on a whole new look, with indoor seating for up to 10 people and an outdoor patio facing Yonge Street that can seat up to eight.
They’ll also be introducing new and innovative menu items, including charcoal cheese bombs, Swiss chestnut loaves and fried crab cheese buns -- products that customers haven’t seen before but are sure to enjoy.
Founded in 1991, Lucullus is a family-owned business that has gone through two generations of hard work over the past three decades. At just 25 years old, Stone Yu is the CEO of Lucullus Bakery and has dedicated most of his early life to the brand, long before the torch had been passed on to him.

Stone grew up in Richmond Hill, where he would spend hours familiarizing himself with the family bakery after school. His parents -- who immigrated from Hong Kong -- taught Stone budgeting and inventory management. Simultaneously, talented Hong Kong chefs working at the bakery shaped his knowledge of recipe development and baking methods.
In 2016, Stone decided to put his skills to the test at only 21 years old by competing in Food Network Canada’s Donut Showdown, where he took home first place. A year later, he spent six months honing his craft in a culinary program at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa Culinary Arts Institute.
From winning a competition on television to refining his skills and owning three -- soon to be four -- successful locations across the GTA, Stone strives to keep the quality of his products and the brand’s essence the same as the bakery expands into franchisees in the future.

For now, you can find Lucullus Bakery’s fourth location in North York at 5200 Yonge Street, which is slated to open in May of 2021.
