Popular chicken spot Love Chix in the Junction Triangle has announced their official closure, temporarily relocating into their partner restaurant Century Park Tavern while searching for another home. The closure comes after the restaurant was locked out of its original location at 1588 Dupont Street earlier this month.
This decision comes after an altercation with their landlord, who locked their doors on April 5, with a note attached claiming the restaurant owners owed $20,000 in rent. A statement the restaurant says is false, via an Instagram post mentioning how they "never missed a day's rent." Despite trying to remain hopeful in attempting to better the issue with their landlord, the restaurant has decided to clear out their space at 1588 Dupont St. and move a few blocks over to 33 Powerhouse Street inside Century Park Tavern for the time being.
The owners feel it's smarter to move on and focus on establishing their Love Chix brand in their newer and larger location in the once owned General Electric Heritage building. Since Century Park Tavern was furnished with a focus on "dine-in culture" in mind, the owners hope to fully utilize this space after lockdown. They also mention how they deeply value their supportive community of restaurant-goers, "Love Chix at Century Park was just the logical decision in order to keep our guests satisfied. It's around the corner as well, so we are still directly involved with our awesome communities, which has been super important to us for the past 5 years."
The Love Chix menu is limited at the moment, with plans to expand to be as close to their regular menu as possible later this week. However, you can still find favourites like their Honey Hot Sandwich and their Chilli Chicken available for pick-up or delivery.
Love Chix is now open from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, available for online orders via the Century Park Tavern website or via their delivery partners, Uber Eats, SkipTheDishes, DoorDash and Ritual.
