Love Child to close on Nov. 29, will be replaced by subway station

Love Child Social House, the famed Toronto hotspot, announced Wednesday that its doors will close on Nov. 29 and will be replaced by a Metrolinx subway station. Until then, the spot plans to throw farewell parties throughout October and November while it looks for a new permanent home.

After five years of serving the people of Toronto, Love Child will officially say its goodbyes to the location at 69 Bathurst St. that it called home. Owners Dan Gunam and Vito Tomasicchio, who also teamed up to open TIFF hotspot Soluna, look forward to giving the location a proper send-off by honouring its history and welcoming surprise guests throughout the next two months.

Love Child will kick off its farewell festivities on Saturday with the Mirrors day party featuring Tim Green and will wrap up with a countdown clock to a New Year's Eve-style party on Nov. 26. Weekly DJs will perform on Friday and Saturday nights with surprise guest hosts and celebrity visits peppered in throughout.

The celebrations will look to pay tribute to the many performers, DJs and tastemakers that made Love Child the iconic venue it is today.

Love Child Social House is a social hub in the heart of downtown Toronto. During the day, it provides event space for content creators to come together and fuel their passions and ambitions. With the onset of nightfall, the spot turns into one of the hottest nightclubs in the city, with DJs spinning the trendiest of tracks and drink specials that keep you energized into the wee hours of the morning.

The location’s closing might indicate the end of an albeit short-lived era, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that the place will be back before we know it, bigger and better than before.

A full schedule of the months-long festivities will be released to the public soon. Until then, please visit Love Child Social House's website for more information.
