Local Asian-owned businesses collaborate on Chinese New Year takeout kit

With everything that’s been going on, it seems a massive family dinner for Chinese New Year’s is out of the question. However, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stuff your face with as much food as humanly possible.

To make that task much easier, Hong Shing is partnering up with local Asian-owned businesses to create a curated meal kit that celebrates Chinese New Year and helps support the Chinese community––who of which has also suffered due to the pandemic.

The collaboration includes individuals and businesses like Trevor Lui, who just launched a new cookbook that he’s been working on for years, as well as Evelyn Chick, Colin Li, Yueh Tung, and Tap Phong Trading Co.

The kit includes the following:

  • Eight-course meal including dessert curated by Colin Li and Trevor Lui, which includes dishes like a Chinese BBQ Platter, Wok Fried Grouper and a Char Siu Truffle & Porcini Egg Foo Young, among others
  • Cocktail/Mocktail kit with custom tea curated by Evelyn Chick (EC Projects/Salty Paloma)
  • Duo of acclaimed sauces from Yueh Tung Chinese Restaurant
  • Custom selected set of chopsticks from Tap Phong Trading Co.
  • "The Double Happiness Cookbook" from Trevor Lui
  • Premium Chinese Tea from "Yum Cha" by Trevor Lui
  • 6-Pack of Hong Shing’s New Red Pocket Pilsner Craft Beer

You can also purchase dinnerware and cutlery from them via Uber Eats as well. This Chinese New Year promotion will run from February 5-19. The meal kit is $288.00 and will feed six people. It requires a 24-hour notice and will be available starting February 1 for pre-order and pickup via the Hong Shing website.
