Little Sister's holiday experience on Portland will resume tomorrow, extending into January

Little Sister, Toronto's one and only Dutch-Indonesian restaurant, has turned their Portland bar into a fully-festive Christmas experience.

As the holiday quickly approaches, Little Sister is embracing the Christmas season by transforming their space with a tasty menu, holiday drinks and festive decor. The Bali Bar, located on the second floor, is decorated tropically with plants, bamboo and designed to make you feel like you are beach side at the popular Indonesian getaway. Renamed the Java Jingle Holiday Hangout Bar and decorated with an abundance of Christmas decor, the space allows Little Sister to put a Balinese twist on the holidays. No corner is left unturned as every part of the restaurant is created with the intention to bring about feelings of nostalgia and holiday fun.

Containing fifteen cocktails and three holiday festive shooters, the drink program has something for everyone. A variety of drink options span from light and refreshing to rich and heavy. The beverages are all adapted from classic and modern cocktail recipes that induce similar flavour profiles to previous Little Sister menu items. With the addition of winter flavours and spices, non-alcoholic beverages are also a great alternative to stay in the Christmas cheer. The Spiced Blood Orange Margarita, Spiced Winter Apple Cider or Spiced Paloma can all be made without alcohol.

What differentiates Little Sister's bar from others is "the fact that we have a full food program so you can eat and drink and be Merry, and we have so many great cocktails to choose from with fun names and cocktail glasses," says Robin Wynne, the general manager and bar manager, and creative behind the Christmas menu.

What is nice about Little Sister's Christmas experience, is that a full Dutch-Indonesian food menu is included with the tasty holiday drinks.

The Christmas bar is important to the staff at Little Sister. Last year, celebrating with family and friends had been restrictive and difficult to manage as Covid ramped up for a third time around then. Now more than ever, the need for connection over food and drinks is apparent. The Christmas bar is a place where people can share in conversation and laughter while embracing the holidays.

With the rise of the current situation, Little Sister will be closed until after Christmas, reopening on Dec. 28. The Christmas bar, however, will be open until mid to late January 2022, giving those that didn't get the chance beforehand another opportunity to attend.

Little Sister has two locations, with the Christmas bar located at 102 Portland Street. Little Sister is closed Sundays and Mondays. The kitchen is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursdays through Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
