In a significant expansion for the brand, Ladurée Canada is bringing a state-of-the-art pastry lab to Toronto on Wednesday. This move will allow the patisserie to provide exquisite and freshly-made French baked goods to its Yorkdale tea salon and Exchange Tower locations.
At its helm will be executive pastry chef Alexandra Launay, delivering the same decadent pastries and cakes that the Ladurée's Paris locations are known for. Iconic cakes like Marie Antoinette, Isaphan, Saint Honore and Millefeuille, Ladurée croissants and ice creams will be made from scratch daily, following the same recipes and techniques as Ladurée in France.
"I am incredibly excited to be bringing Ladurée’s iconic pastries and cakes that have captivated palates worldwide to Toronto,” Launay said. “Our team of expert pastry chefs will be working with the best locally sourced ingredients to create our world-famous offerings freshly made from scratch each day for Ladurée’s Toronto locations.”
The new-to-Toronto French pastry-making facility will be Ladurée's second Canadian laboratory, following the opening of the Vancouver location in 2018. The 1,830-square-foot lab was initially planned to open in 2020 but got postponed due to the pandemic. Three years later, it is ready to take over the city and provide Toronto with a cornucopia of indulgent treats.

We cannot wait to see our guests enjoying the famous Ladurée Ispahan, Plaisir Sucre and Saint Honore cakes, prepared exactly the same way as in Paris, right here in Toronto!”
Ladurée, a world-renowned French patisserie, has a rich history dating back to 1862. Over 140 years after its formation, the brand entered Canadian markets for the first time with a store in Vancouver. Since then, it has opened two locations in Toronto at the Yorkdale Mall and First Canadian Place Exchange Tower. Now, with its deeper foray into Toronto with a pastry lab, one can only assume the stronghold Ladurée will have on the city's pastry market.
Beyond the two locations of Ladurée at 3401 Dufferin St. and 130 King St. W., the new-to-Toronto delicacies will also be available to order on www.ladureecanada.ca for in-store pickup or delivery across the Greater Toronto Area.
