As the temperature begins to creep up to the 30°C mark and the dog days of summer fast approach, popular bubble tea shop Gong Cha has launched a menu of creamy soft serve to appease those looking for a cold treat to accompany their bubble tea.
This bubble tea franchise takes your average summer dessert to the next level by combining unique soft serve flavours like Matcha, Honeydew, Earl Grey, Chocolate and Milk Foam with toppings like tapioca and red bean.
Take their Milk Foam Matcha Swirl, for example. The half-matcha, half-milk foam soft serve comes with a complimentary sugar cone and chocolate Pocky stick.
There are plenty of toppings to choose from on the menu, including but not limited to bubble waffles, Oreos, coconut jelly and coffee jelly.
Although their new soft serve flavours have not yet been released, Gong Cha has been slowly rolling them out for limited tastings over the last week and is aiming to open to the general public in early June.
"The most important part of our business is our customers. That's why we have opted for this business model. By employing a soft launch, we're able to see which combinations work and which don't," says Tommy Ngo, owner of Gong Cha's North York location.
Over the next few weeks, you can expect to see many new flavour combinations on their Instagram. Gong Cha will be testing out their Earl Grey and Chocolate soft serve blend in the next few days, followed by their Taro Milk Tea and Red Bean combination the week after.
"So far, the response has been great! And, down the line, this is something we want to continue. We want to enhance our menu to meet our customers' every expectation, and we believe that this is the way to do it," Ngo explains.
In the process of experimentation, Gong Cha is continuously testing new flavour blends using special ingredients like Hojicha, Oolong Milk Tea, Vietnamese Coffee, Brown Sugar Milk Tea and more.
