The forsaken day has come and we must say arrivederci to Frankie Tomatto's.
The Markham staple announced on their Instagram page that they would officially be closing their doors after 25 years of service.
The Italian-style all you can eat buffet shut down temporarily in March amid rising COVID-19 concerns -- little did they know; it would be their last dance. Since moving into Stage 3, Frankie Tomatto's was unable to reopen due to the high-risk factors surrounding buffet-style restaurants.
In its prime, Frankie Tomatto's was the go-to spot for birthday parties and special occasions. Boasting 15 food stations with everything from pizzas, pastas, cheesy garlic bread, chicken Parmesan and a decadent dessert table, the 15,000 square foot buffet has served 11 million meals in its 25 years.
To celebrate the countless memories shared with all their customers through the years, Frankie Tomatto's will be hosting "Frankie's Last Supper" this Saturday, August 29.
The beloved restaurant will be giving away free pizzas in their parking lot -- drive-in and collect your pizza and souvenir gift between 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Quantities are limited to one pizza per car and is drive-in only.
For every car that comes, Frankie's will also be donating $1 to Easter Seals -- a non-profit organization that provides funding for accessibility equipment, summer camps and scholarships for families and children with physical disabilities.
Support the cause and say your final goodbyes to the iconic Italian buffet this Saturday at 7225 Woodbine Avenue -- and maybe snap one last picture with the miniature Leaning Tower of Pisa out front.
